What People Say

Most Liked

The warm, friendly staff makes each visit memorable, treating customers like family. Many rave about the delicious food, especially the popular catfish, which has won over even those who usually don't prefer it. The atmosphere is casual yet bustling, making it an ideal place for both chilling with friends or enjoying a bite alone. Patrons frequently mention the impressive beer selection that pairs well with the comforting food. The vibrant jukebox and pool tables add a nostalgic charm, transporting diners back to simpler times. The historical significance enriches the overall experience and stands as a reminder of Cookeville's journey towards inclusivity.

Most Disliked

Some visitors note that service can occasionally be slow during peak hours, especially on weekends, so patience is key. A few diners mentioned that certain menu items may sell out quickly, particularly during busy lunch periods. Some guests who prefer upscale dining might find the casual vibe a bit too laid-back. The hours can be limiting for late-night seekers, as the establishment closes early in the evening. Though most find the prices reasonable, a few think the portion sizes could be larger for heartier appetites.

Absolutely the best place to stop and eat! Like stepping back in time when things were simple and slow. Best hotdog I’ve ever had!! Wonderful owners and server!!! Can’t wait to go back

We love to try the food that is recommended by the staff. Julie suggested the catfish - I normally do not like catfish - but they made it sound wonderful so we tried it. The fish was so good. Perfect batter. My husband loves catfish and feels this was the best he ever had. The food here is not your normal bar fare. Tasted fresh and very flavorful. Julie was very friendly and chatty. Troy (owner) was very personable and he seems to love what he does. Friendly local crowd Stop in and try the full bar and kitchen. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

They close at 5, ya'll. The food is delicious and there's a beer to wet your whistle. Definitely a great stop.

Down home cooking. Places like this need to be preserved and never die. They are the soul of the community.

Found this little place on our way to Florida. Very friendly man who owns the place also does all the cooking. His daughter, Doodle, served us and was super friendly. The pulled pork sandwich was excellent and the cole slaw was homemade and beyond any we've ever had. There is a pool table and jukebox. Our 8 yr old said he wanted to come back and eat on our way back home. Thanks for the great food!

We have been meaning to stop by here for a while. Stopped in today. Sooo good. The burger and onion rings were fabulous. The grilled catfish basket was over the top. The server was awesome. I am impressed with this establishment. From the history to the menu, it was a great restaurant.
